4.6 - Companies, Factions, and Institutions
Companies, Factions, and Institutions
An affiliation is a relationship, not a second rules package. Choose one only if it helps locate your character in the world. You might be a member, former member, contractor, dependent, client, rival, family connection, subject, or neighbor.
No Automatic Benefits. Affiliation alone grants no skills, tools, rank, salary, contacts, equipment, safe houses, legal authority, or renown. If your D&D background supplies a feature such as guild membership, military rank, or faction contacts, it can make the relationship formal. Otherwise, the affiliation is story positioning.

The live faction book also names the Knights of Science, Crimson Vow, Wymshadow Cabal, Greenwardens, Vargfolk, and Crimson Wood, but their current pages are empty or incomplete. Rockdrift names the Knights of Arfordir, Zithers, Duskveil Syndicate, and the Black Network. Relèv legacy notes name Jay Mining, Matkith Transport, and Heartwell Refinery. These are valid character hooks only after the GM confirms which version is active.
